PROJECTS

The Medical Students’ Buddhist Association of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo conducts a diverse range of projects throughout the year with the aim of fostering spiritual development, community service, cultural appreciation, and student welfare. Guided by Buddhist values and a commitment to social responsibility, these initiatives provide opportunities for students to engage in meaningful service, strengthen their connection to cultural and religious traditions, support educational advancement, and contribute positively to society. Through religious programmes, charitable activities, educational outreach, cultural events, and community-centered initiatives, the Association seeks to cultivate compassion, leadership, unity, and personal growth while creating a lasting impact within the faculty and beyond.

Book Donation Campaign

An educational service initiative aimed at promoting knowledge sharing and supporting learning opportunities. Through the collection and distribution of books and educational resources, the project seeks to encourage reading habits and contribute to the academic development of students and institutions in need.

Bhakthi Geetha Programme

A cultural and devotional initiative that brings together students and the wider community through Buddhist devotional music. The programme provides a platform for artistic expression while fostering spiritual reflection, unity, and appreciation of Buddhist cultural traditions.

Vesak Celebrations

A series of activities organized to commemorate the significance of Vesak and share its message of compassion, generosity, and enlightenment. These celebrations typically include creative competitions, religious observances, community engagement activities, and opportunities for students to express their talents while embracing Buddhist values.

Annual Pirith Ceremony

One of the Association’s key religious events, organized to invoke blessings, promote spiritual well-being, and strengthen the bond among students, alumni, academic staff, and well-wishers. The ceremony provides an opportunity for collective reflection and the cultivation of a peaceful and harmonious environment.

Blessing Programme for the Newest Batch

A welcoming initiative designed to introduce new students to the values, traditions, and spirit of the Association. Through religious observances and fellowship activities, the programme seeks to offer blessings for their academic journey while fostering a sense of belonging, friendship, and community within the faculty.
